By combining a 328mm Y-axis and a 224mm X-axis into one instrument the PROFILER 2 delivers precision axial and sagittal data in a mere fraction of the time film or water tanks will require. The PROFILER 2 is a real-time device that counts radiation on the pulse level; it is also suitable for Cobalt. Pulse data is captured every 50 ms. Advanced PC software offers customizable and standard options, and enables users to make the most of the data they have acquired in the least amount of time possible.
Physical Description & Setup
PROFILER 2 uses 139 detectors arranged on an X and Y axis to measure sagittal and axial profiles simultaneously. The Y-axis consists of 83
detectors with 4mm spacing for a maximum field size of 328mm at 100cm SPD.
The X-axis consists of 57 detectors with 4mm spacing for a maximum field
size of 224mm at 100cm SSD. Larger field sizes are possible by taking two
measurements at 100cm SSD, or by taking a single measurement at a shorter
SSD. The top plate of the PROFILER 2 is constructed of water equivalent
material (Virtual Water.) This top plate allows the inherent buildup and the
physical distance from detector to instrument surface to both equal 10mm.
The PROFILER 2 is quickly setup using a single power data cable that is
common to other Sun Nuclear products.
Detectors
PROFILER 2 detectors have the highest available sensitivity and lowest
available volume of any electronic measurement system. Measuring only
0.64mm2, PROFILER2 detectors are an amazing .000019cm3. The small size
ensures accurate measurements under all conditions. PROFILER 2 does not
require frequent recalibration.
Applications
PROFILER 2 measures both photon and electron beams on therapy LINACs, as
well as Cobalt. The following are automatically calculated by the software
using standard IEC or LINAC parameters, or user defined standards:

User Interface
The PROFILER 2 hardware is controlled by professional PC software and
displays data acquisition in real time rate, average dose, or accumulated
dose mode. Real time rate mode is an essential tool for beam steering and
trouble shooting, and can save hours if a LINAC is off-line for service
work. Average dose and accumulated dose mode are powerful tools for
performing fast dosimetric flatness and symmetry checks.
Measure at Any Angle
Rotational measurements can be done at any gantry angle while keeping
PROFILER 2 securely fixed at Isocenter. This is possible by using the
IMF™, which allows for fast and precise QA testing of the MLC, Collimator,
and Gantry shift effects.
