<< Back Diode Detectors: The Right Choice for IMRT QA
The dose volume averaging effect of ion chambers is well documented. When using ion chambers for beam modeling and QA, the planned and measured dose may agree because they BOTH under and/or overestimate dose to the target volume and surrounding structures. The QA results may be favorable, but they are not satisfying the objective of revealing inconsistencies between the planned dose and actual delivered dose.
