Melbourne, Florida – Sun Nuclear Corporation, the worldwide leader in radiation oncology patient safety solutions, has acquired a new TrueBeam® Radiotherapy System for its Global Training Center. The TrueBeam system is manufactured by Varian Medical Systems, the world’s leading manufacturer of medical devices and software for treating and managing cancer. Access to this advanced treatment delivery technology will support Sun Nuclear’s comprehensive customer education program, as well as ongoing research and development of products to improve patient safety in radiation therapy.

Used for product training workshops and continuing education courses on quality assurance (QA), Dosimetry and patient safety, the 5,000-square-foot Sun Nuclear Training Center replicates the clinical environment of a cancer treatment center. Medical Physicists and Dosimetrists from around the world visit the training center for hands-on training using the same technologies as in their clinic.

“We are very pleased to add a TrueBeam to our training center lineup,” said Jeff Simon, CEO of Sun Nuclear. “Having the latest clinical technology provides our customers and associates with a better learning environment, and helps define best practices in QA and dosimetry with direct benefits to overall patient safety.”

In addition to the new Varian TrueBeam system, Sun Nuclear has added the Eclipse Treatment Planning System, with AAA and Acuros® XB Dose Calculation algorithms, as well as the ARIA® Oncology Information System for Radiation Oncology.
