Melbourne, Florida – Sun Nuclear Corporation, a leader in independent Quality Management solutions for Radiation Therapy and Diagnostic Imaging, today announced an increased pledge of support for RO-ILS: Radiation Oncology Incident Learning System®. Sun Nuclear has supported RO-ILS since 2017. With its increased financial commitment for 2021, Sun Nuclear is now RO-ILS’ sole Safety Patron.
RO-ILS is a free, online safety tool facilitating safer and higher quality care in radiation oncology by providing a mechanism for shared learning in a secure, non-punitive environment. The program is jointly sponsored by the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). More than 600 facilities across the United States have joined RO-ILS to contribute patient safety data to a growing national database.

RO-ILS is open only to U.S.-based practices. Enrolled practices receive access to a unique instance of the RO-ILS Portal where they enter a wide-range of safety events, analyze trends and send data to a national database. Safety experts mine the national database and develop education for the radiation oncology community.
RO-ILS is associated with Clarity PSO, one of the first Patient Safety Organizations (PSOs) federally-listed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
